Standard Draw Type Fin Dies

Standard-Draw-Type

The Standard Draw Type Fin Die continues to be the most popular of all fin die types. It is valued for its versatility, economy, and ease of operation. The process of forming self-spacing collars by progressive stages of drawing and redrawing permits the widest range of fin spacing of any common fin die types. In our dies this variable spacing is easily accessed by calibrated screw-wedge systems. We have the greatest depth of experience in the industry, ranging from drawing collars up to 1 1/2 fins per inch height on large patterns to drawing collars down to 4mm tube diameters on very tight patterns.

The standard draw-type fin die consists of draw, pierce extrude, reflare, edge trim, slit, feed, and cutoff stations. Additional enhancement (louvers, opposed louvers, or raised lances) and notching stations are also available. All of our fin stamping dies are of the quick change style. One person using a fork truck is capable of changing from one fin die to another in less than 1 hour.

Special Tooling Package

Special Tooling Material

Various upgrades to the standard fin die design are recommended when abrasive materials (e.g. Steel and Copper) are used because they greatly reduce tooling life.

  • Hardened plate under pierce station
  • Hardened air manifold
  • Hardened lower slit rails
  • Steel feed fingers
  • Steel cutoff strippers
  • Fin Die Slitter Blades: Slitter blades (slit blades, slitting blades) are available in either rippled or plain versions.
  • Fin Die Edge Trim: The edge trim mechanism is available in either Rippled or Plain versions.
  • Fin Surface: The fin surface design of the fin die is generally available in the form of Modified Sine, V-Waffle, or Plain Flat surfaces. Other surface designs are available to meet your production specifications.
